With the extremely cold temperatures our heat pump seemed to be having difficulty keeping the temperature at the level set on the thermostat. Thermostat being set at 70 or 71 was not "kicking on" the electric heat even when the thermostat was showing 67 or 68. The electric heat should be in use if the temperature is 2 degrees less than the set temperature. Everything else checked out fine. Our technician, Mike Pantzar, suggested a new thermostat should be helpful. (Our thermostat was 10 to 11 years old) The electric heat would only "kick on" if the set temperature was 5 degrees above the temperature showing on the thermostat. Mike Pantzar is an excellent technician. He explains things well and is very thorough. He suggests different options, but is not "pushy." I would give him more than a 5 star rating, but that is not a choice.
